| Pinellia pedatisecta ~ With its horseshoe-shaped compound leaf and its long, whip-like spadix which protrudes like a dragon's tongue from a narrow green spathe, this – the largest member (18 inches tall) of a genus of diminutive aroids – superficially resembles the native green dragon, Arisaema dracontium. It differs in several respects, however, including in its continual season-long bloom and its penchant for seeding itself about, prolifically so in areas with warm, humid summers.
